Excitation and relaxation of nonthermal electron energy distributions in metals with application to gold

چکیده

A semiempirical theory for the excitation and subsequent relaxation of nonthermal electrons is described. The theory, which applicable to ultrafast-laser excited metals, based on Boltzmann transport equation carrier distribution function $f(\ensuremath{\epsilon},t)$ includes electron-phonon, electron-electron, electron-photon scattering integrals in forms that explicitly depend electronic density states. Electron-phonon coupling treated by extending Allen [Phys. Rev. Lett. 59, 1460 (1987)] include highly-excited electron distributions, used determine energy transfer rate between a subsystem thermal phonon subsystem. Electron-electron with simple energy-conserving electron-electron integral. integral assumes photon absorption assisted. We apply analyze prior ultrafast thermionic emission, two-color photoemission, inelastic light (Raman) experiments Au. These analyses show getting details necessary proper interpretation each experiment. Together, photoemission Raman-scattering indicate an 1 eV above Fermi level has time range 25 55 fs.

the role of russia in transmission of energy from central asia and caucuses to european union

a comparison of teachers and supervisors, with respect to teacher efficacy and reflection

supervisors play an undeniable role in training teachers, before starting their professional experience by preparing them, at the initial years of their teaching by checking their work within the proper framework, and later on during their teaching by assessing their progress. but surprisingly, exploring their attributes, professional demands, and qualifications has remained a neglected theme i...

construction and validation of translation metacognitive strategy questionnaire and its application to translation quality

like any other learning activity, translation is a problem solving activity which involves executing parallel cognitive processes. the ability to think about these higher processes, plan, organize, monitor and evaluate the most influential executive cognitive processes is what flavell (1975) called “metacognition” which encompasses raising awareness of mental processes as well as using effectiv...

Transient thermal and nonthermal electron and phonon relaxation after

Several dynamic thermal and nonthermal scattering processes affect ultrafast heat transfer 7 in metals after short-pulsed laser heating. Even with decades of measurements of electron8 phonon relaxation, the role of thermal vs. nonthermal electron and phonon scattering on 9 overall electron energy transfer to the phonons remains unclear. In this work, we derive 10 an analytical expression for th...
